A Prince2 change manager with 20 years experience, changing industries, companies, departments and teams to be more efficient or more effective. This can be initiated by a new strategy, regulations, M & A, restructuring or new initiative such as facilitating IT investment.

In 1996-1999 I project managed the restructuring of two major utilities for the Victorian State Government in Melbourne, in to 20+ companies and sold them all off by international tender for $30 billion.

I am a professional Prince2 project manager, am a partly-qualified accountant and have 3 degrees.

I was commended by the World Bank for renegotiating and terminating a PPA (a PFI-like 25 year contract to build and operate a power station, valued at $3billion) for the 1,000MW Loy Yang B coal-fired power station.

I have set up two PMOs, on in Damascus, Syrai in 2006 and one in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 2014.

I set up and project managed the financial system for Saudi Aramco JV at their HQ in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, for their $6billion oil refining JV with Sumitomo Chemicals of Japan.

I have also been personally responsible for projects up to $200 million.

PMO Lead

 

As the PMO Leader, John set up a PMO from scratch to manage 20+ change projects in metering, finance, retail, engineering and network operations, properly defined / scoped & integrated each project in to an integrated portfolio, identified the required expertise and the implementation timetable for each one. The prime objective was to dramatically reduce their 20% (physical & financial) losses as PHED was haemoraging money and customers had 8-10 hours / day power cuts.

 

Project Leader

I led 3 EY / Conculting teams, to install a new financial system for Saudi Aramco's JV with sumitomo Chemicals of Japan.

We installed a new software system, wrote all the financial staff Job descriptions, Procedures, Compliance and suppporting processes to eradicate any corruption and facilitate high confidence levels in the finance department, before Sumitomo injected their equity in to the JV.

Consultant

I project managed the restructuring of two utilities in to 20+ companies and sold them off by international tender, raising $30 billion, 3x asset value

Energy Trading Manager

I set up all the trading functions, IT systems, corporate governance and trading framework and made presentations to prospective bidders for Pwerrcor

Senior Trader

I managed a 4 man team to trade 1/3rd of the UK power station in to a competitive wholesale electricity market
